A new Web site is taking online job-hunting one step farther.

AskMeHireMe.com enables job applicants to appear on interactive video, answering specific questions for prospective employers. Job-seekers can post their resumes and also answer the questions submitted when recruiters and employers post their job openings. The Q&A session will appear on interactive video.

This is not your rambling video resume of the 1980's, says Ask Me Hire Me principal Jack Krause. He says the site presents the applicant in quick, easy-to-click responses to the questions employers most want answered. The viewer can pick and choose the questions and responses from a menu beside each video.

"It seems to me to be a natural format for any type of question-and-answer scenario," Krause said. "The old-fashioned video resume always seemed so boring to me. Applicants tend to run on and on and on."

Employers posting jobs can choose to ask standardized questions from a wide ranged database:

• Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?

• What do you do when faced with an impossible deadline?

Employers also can submit their own questions, for example they can ask questions in Spanish if they are seeking bilingual candidates.

"Our technology does two things for job seekers and employers," Krause said. "One, it saves everyone time by eliminating that first phone call interview. And two, it helps people stand out in the crowd of 1,000 resumes submitted for a single job opening."

Applicants can make the interactive videos secure, so only the employer can see it, or they can make it public for anyone surfing the site.
